Since our doors opened in 1968, we have been using an original 100 Kilo Probat roaster to roast the majority of our beans and to this day she is still going strong. Over the last 47 years we have come to know her inside out which has helped us produce only the best roast profiles for our raw beans. Now looked after and ran by Paul who has had 13 years’ experience carefully hand roasting, she has recently been refurbished with an iPad installed so we can track and record every roast profile.
To assist with the workload as business continues to expand, we also have a 30 kilo Joper roaster; a scaled down version of our probat which is used for small batch speciality coffees. As well as the two roasters we use for trade coffes, we have a 2 kilo mini roaster for profiling new coffees; we use this to try different roast profiles in order to get exactly what we’re looking for in each bean. Once we have agreed on a roast profile, the beans will be roasted and available to buy for our trade and shop customers.
We are also excited about our latest addition, a new 150 Kilo Probat roaster that has been completely dismantled and is almost completely refurbished and this will be used to roast beans for our expanding list of private label customers
