October 2009

If you love real coffee and would like to know more about its origins, the roasting process and how to make and taste the perfect cup, you’re invited to join us for a brew on Friday mornings this autumn.

Each Friday from 8.30am to 10.30am, the team here at Brian Wogan, Bristol’s coffee roaster, will be staging free tasting and training sessions.

The sessions will be simple, unfussy and fun, allowing the professional and the passionate drinker to learn more about great coffee.

Each Friday we’ll throw open our coffee bins and explain the different colours, textures and aromas of the beans, we’ll look at raw green coffee and explain how to get the best from a coffee machine.

We’ll fire up our trusted coffee roaster to prepare small sacks of beans and explain how and why we judge every batch by hand, eye and nose and not with the aid of a computer.

Finally, we’ll cover the blending process and work with those present to create a unique blend for the day. This special coffee, and others from our range, will be available to buy on the day.

If you love to make great coffee at home or at your place of work, these sessions are for you. If you work in the hospitality sector and want to know more about how you can improve your coffee offer, you’re equally welcome. Our team will be on hand to tailor each session accordingly.

The  sessions are free. We simply ask that you confirm your plan to attend by emailing us from here. Tell us a little about your interest in coffee so we can help you make the most of your time with us.

We’ll start promptly at 8.30, so arrive in good time ready for your first coffee.

November 2006

We are pleased to be working with Wadworth Brewery, developing their coffee offer. We have begun with the removal of filter machines and installation of Espresso equipment and cafetieres. On-going Bariata  training will be provided.

August 2006

I have just finished developing our new Espresso blend. I have been working on this blend for sometime. It's easy to come up with a coffee that makes a great espresso, but put milk with it and too often it becomes bland and non-descript. This blend is taken to a dark chocolate roast, just before the smoky character kicks in. In espresso form it offers a smooth, full flavour with little acidity. My judge of a great espresso is enjoying the first, the second and being tempted with a third, that is where we are with this blend.

We need help however, I cannot think up a suitable name for the coffee. Please email any suggestions, tour efforts will be rewarded!

Adrian Wogan.

March

We were pleased to introduce the first quarterly "know your beans" newsletter. The aim was to increase awareness of the activities of Brian Wogan Coffee. We had a great response to our invitation to attend one of our new Masterclasses. The first "bean and machine" was focused mainly on Espresso coffee and equipment.

March

Great to be involved in the Somerset Food Fair recently. The aim was to focus upon regional food. It was supported by celebrity chefs Nick Nairn, Phil Vickery, Martin Blunos and Peter Gordon, all of whom demonstrated their cooking skills. Our role in this all day event was to keep the coffee flowing!

OUT NOW

One of our retail coffees was created with Martin Blunos, one of very few chefs to have obtained 2 Michelin stars. His wife Sian, who is also an excellent cook, has written a book "Cooking for Coco". Sian mother of 3 children wanted to share some of her ideas. This book offers over 100 recipes, the aim is to broaden children's diet. We assume there will be numerous treats with coffee in.
